At a time, when New York hip hop was considered “dead,” Jim Jones was a part of a wave that briefly revived it. The popular Dipset member dropped “We Fly High” to much fanfare. On the remix, he had a long list of stars.

Unfortunately, Jim Jones was unable to ride that momentum to more hits. By 2008, Jim Jones was essentially a mixtape rapper. This time saw Maino begin to make his run, but he found the major labels not being for him.

Jim Jones is the originator of rappers going on “Love & Hip Hop,” as the original idea was a show about his personal life. Years later, Maino would join the show, and he has since launched his “Kitchen Talk” podcast, where Jim Jones was a recent guest. Their conversation saw them speak on Dipset, NYC, the T.I. and Tiny drama, Verzuz, being independent, and more.
