Drake Quickly Reaches Over 500 Million Spotify Streams This Year as Fans Wait For ‘Certified Lover Boy’ Album To Finally Arrive

Drake dropped some surprising news at the end of January as he revealed that his sixth studio album, ‘Certified Lover Boy,’ would not arrive that month. That came after originally revealing back on his birthday in October that a January date would be set. Instead, he is focused on rehabbing his knee, which required surgery in the fall.

Fans are still streaming Drake’s music heavily for now, though. He has reportedly accumulated over 500 million streams on Spotify to start the year already.

Drake gave fans plenty of material to soak in last year as he pumped out plenty of hits. He appeared on Future’s hit single, “Life Is Good,” and put out his own single such as “When To Say When,” “Chicago Freestyle” featuring Giveon, and the chart-topping single, “Toosie Slide.” Drake also went on include these records on his ‘Dark Lane Demo Tapes’ mixtape which included additional bangers like “Pain 1993” feat. Playboi Carti and “Demons” feat. Fivio Foreign and Sosa Geek.

Drake also closed out the summer with another huge record in “Laugh Now Cry Later” feat. Lil Durk. That debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and the music video also went viral. Those visuals included appearances from athletes such as Kevin Durant, Odell Beckham Jr, and Marshawn Lynch. This was filmed at the Nike Headquarters in Beaverton, OR.
