In November, Hulu released their Tekashi 6ix9ine documentary, ‘69: The Saga of Danny Hernandez.’ 6ix9ine’s manager blasted Hulu online for doing this without their authorization and now, Showtime still has one on the way as well.

The network has now released the official trailer for ‘Supervillain: The Making Of Tekashi 6ix9ine.’ It’s a three-part docuseries that will premiere on February 21st. It’s produced by Imagine Documentaries, Rolling Stone and Lightbox. This project is also based on Stephen Witt’s “Tekashi 6ix9ine: The Rise and Fall of a Hip Hop Supervillain” article from Rolling Stone. Giancarlo Esposito Will narrate the series.

This docuseries will highlight the Brooklyn rapper’s rise to success as well as heading to prison for his federal racketeering case from 2019. 6ix9ine’s association with gang culture is also incorporated into it.

“We live in an attention economy. A digital culture that can empower people with no talent or morals to become famous,” Gill said to Complex.. “This series is bigger than 6ix9ine. It’s a cautionary tale about manufactured celebrity and how when our society allows Supervillains to rise, the collateral damage can be massive. In the era of Trump and the Jan. 6 insurrection, understanding and analyzing these stories is extremely important.”
