On January 21, the Verzuz between R&B legends, Keyshia Cole and Ashanti, finally happened. This was after two postponements as the first delay was started due to Ashanti testing positive for COVID-19. The January 9 date didn’t work, either.
At the start of this Verzuz, there were some technical difficulties on Cole’s end for Instagram Live. This resulted in her being an hour late. The situation had fans very impatient and Verzuz Co-Founder, Swizz Beatz, calling the situation “disrespectful.” Cole recently spoke on Instagram Live on Sunday regarding the tardiness and gave fans an apology.
“I should’ve just sat in the seat, no matter if I felt like the visual wasn’t clear or they said my music wasn’t gonna be right or whatever it was. I was really skeptical about that,” Col explained regarding the IG Live screens being blurry. “I don’t want to go on and they not see me and I’m looking blurry, the connection is not right and everything like that.”
Nonetheless, Cole and Ashanti still played some of their greatest hits as it gave fans a lot of nostalgia. Many believed that Ashanti won this Verzuz despite Cole being the heavy favorite coming into the date. Check out Cole’s apology below.
