On Monday, SZA won big as her new “Good Days” single reached the No.1 spot on Apple Music. This came after the highly anticipated single was released on Christmas. SZA initially teased the record being released before 2021 arrived and she did deliver for her fans.
SZA also recently discussed with Cosmopolitan about not winning the 2018 Grammy award for Best New Artist. Alessia Cara ended up winning that award as the other nominees were SZA, Khalid, Julia Michaels, and Lil Uzi Vert. SZA explained how she was simply grateful to be nominated because earlier on in her life, she didn’t see herself having a huge music career like this or even being Grammy-nominated.
“I’m just a girl from the ’burbs. I never had dreams of being nominated for a Grammy. I thought I was going to be a gymnast and a fucking business accountant somewhere. Or working at Nike corporate or some shit in Portland. Who knows, but something that involved a power suit. So it’s not a heavy burden. Once you’ve been nominated and lost, you’re very much free because you’re not concerned. I passed that threshold years ago—it’s an old energy to me. Why would I be mad?”
Now, fans wait for SZA’s sophomore album, which has been anxiously anticipated by fans for a few years now. Her debut album, ‘Ctrl,’ was released way back in June 2017. That project debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 chart, is 2x platinum in the US now, and was led by the hit single, “The Weekend.”
