Often, people say they are “destined for greatness,” or things along those lines. They also cite where they are from and point to the legends who hail from that area. Those types often overlook the hard work that comes, regardless of where they come from.

The ones who work hard are the ones destined for greatness. One rapper working hard is Jay La Osay, but he happens to be from South Central Los Angeles. Many legends, in and outside of music, come from there, but he’s just working to make sure he gets his.

Jay La Osay is putting in work, promoting Ball Hard Never Fall, his newest project. Along with the new project comes the title track and the music video, which he is pushing. Recently, Jay La Osay took the time out to speak to Hip-HopVibe.com, for an On The Rise interview, discussing the new music, the year of 2020, and his future.

Read the entire interview below:

How does Ball Hard Never Fall compare to your previous projects? In my opinion, it’s by far my best project. I’ve grown a lot mentally while working on this piece and it can be heard throughout the project from tracks like “I Don’t Care” and “Look Thru My Eyes”

Are you excited about the music video for the title track? Most definitely. I’ve put in an ample amount of work crafting and creating ideas for it. To finally deliver the finished product is satisfying.

What is your motivation behind your newest music? Hustling, Progress, and Success. It’s imperative that I prove to myself that I’m improving and getting better with my craft. I’ve always been a go-getter and I feel like my newest music reflects that.

Everyone has said 2020 has been a rough year, but what is your opinion on this year? It’s most definitely been a bizarre year. A year of change and adjustments. It definitely has given me a lot to talk about.

With 2021 right around the corner, what are your plans for the upcoming New Year? To keep grinding, dropping new music and visuals. I never want to be too relaxed when it comes to the music. I feel like the busier I am the better I get.

This past decade has seen a resurgence for West Coast hip hop, particularly LA, what do you think the 2020s holds for your city? I believe the future is bright. It’s plenty of talent out here and, this is one of the best places to be in when it comes to making music. It’s most definitely competitive, which makes me believe the city will be in great hands.
