Last night, LeBron James won his fourth championship. This came within eight years of his first, with his third different team. With this title, he was playing with the Los Angeles Lakers, as he and Anthony Davis led them to a championship, over the Miami Heat.
Eight years ago, LeBron James led those Miami Heat to a championship, his first. Despite finally getting a title, James was still heavily criticized. Two titles, four years, four NBA Finals saw LeBron return to Cleveland, with four Finals, and one title.
Currently, LeBron James has had to end his rivalry, with the Golden State Warriors, the only team his Cavaliers played in the Finals. His signing with the Lakers was a struggle, as they weren’t quite contenders, and his injury cost him the playoffs, but 2019-2020 saw them retool, adding Anthony Davis, Rajon Rondo, and Dwight Howard, being the NBA’s second-best team, defeating Portland, Houston, and Denver to go to the Finals.
After winning the championship, LeBron James sat down to speak with the media. He discussed the season ending, prematurely, restarting in the bubble, only playing in Orlando, being away from his family for so long, and his focus on the title. The interview also saw him speak on the social justice push, his bond with Anthony Davis, and more, following the Lakers’ six game series win, over Jimmy Butler’s Miami Heat.
