The Travis Scott meal was available at McDonald’s from September 8-October 4 and it was a massive success. It was the first time that someone had their own meal at the popular worldwide food chain since the legendary Michael Jordan back in 1992. This meal by the Houston rapper consisted of a quarter pounder with cheese, medium french fries with BBQ sauce, and a Sprite. This was all for only $6.
The Travis Scott meal did so well that it also helped McDonald’s bounce back in terms of their sales as they struggled for a bit during the COVID-19 pandemic. According to The Wall Street Journal, “U.S. sales have bounced back from the initial shock of the coronavirus pandemic.” From July-September, McDonald’s saw a 4.6% increase in U.S sales compared to this period from 2019. The previous quarter had seen an 8.7% drop prior to this increase. Once the Travis Scott meal arrived, the popularity increased along with due to more effective drive-thrus.
“It’s been so lit, some of our restaurants have temporarily sold out of some of the ingredients in the meal,” explained an internal McDonald’s memo regarding the meal when it was out. “We’re working closely with our suppliers, distributors and franchisees to resupply impacted restaurants as quickly as possible.”
Last week, McDonald’s also announced that they have a meal dedicated to J Balvin, which contains Big Mac, Medium Fries and an Oreo McFlurry. As far as Scott’s music, he currently has the No. 1 song in the US with “Franchise” featuring Young M.A and Young Thug. The remix was also released with features Future. Scott’s next studio album is also expected to be titled ‘Utopia.’
