Cardi B Shuts Down Critics Who Said She Was a “Flop” For Not Putting Out Music in Nine Months [VIDEO]

Cardi B continues to dominate the industry over the past month and a half with the release of her “WAP” single featuring Megan Thee Stallion. Right now, it’s the No. 1 song in the US again on the Billboard Hot 100 chart after a two-week hiatus at No. 2 due to BTS’ “Dynamite” being on top for two weeks. She is also making headlines for filing for divorce from Offset this month after almost three years of marriage.

Prior to WAP’s massive success, people began to doubt if Cardi flopped as an artist due to not releasing new music in nine months. This is a crazy take in general considering that her debut studio album, “Invasion Of Privacy” went No. 1 in 2018 and her “Press” and “Please Me” feat. Bruno Mars singles also went platinum in 2019.

Today, Cardi spoke to SiriusXM Radio and spoke on the flop claims. To no surprise, she is not worried about those critics.

“There are male artists who will go two years without putting out a song and [the fans] don’t be like, ‘oh, you’re irrelevant, it’s over for you’. Me, I didn’t put out songs for nine months and it’s like, ‘oh, she’s irrelevant, she’s over, she’s a flop, we told you that’. And I’m like, yo! That type of shit started to get to me but it’s like, I’m not gonna let that shit get to me to the point that I’m going to put out a song that I’m not really in love with.”

Cardi also said that Atlantic Records is not “tired of her” contrary to all of the speculation. People also believed that they were looking at more female talent to add. In the end, Cardi is still one of the biggest artists in the gene and to question her relevancy right now should not even be a thought.
