Big Sean’s ‘Detroit 2‘ album was released last week as this was one of his most highly anticipated projects. The Detroit native initially revealed plans for the album in March and released two singles right before its release with “Deep Reverence” featuring Nipsey Hussle and “Harder Than My Demons.”

Last week, Detroit 2 was expected to fall behind Tekashi 6ix9ine’s ‘Tattle Tales‘ album for the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200 chart but that quickly changed. Sean was projected to move 110,000 units while 6ix9ine would do 56,000. Now, the final numbers are in and Sean has secured the top spot comfortably.

According to Chart Data, Detroit 2 sold 103,000 units in its first week. Pop Smoke’s posthumous debut studio album, ‘Shoot For The Stars Aim For The Moon,’ is still in the mix at 75,000 units at No. 2, Juice WRLD’s posthumous ‘Legends Never Die‘ is at 3 with 57,000 units, and Tattle Tales is placed at 4 with 53,000 units.

Detroit 2 also marks Sean’s third consecutive No. 1 solo album. His previous project was his fourth studio album, ‘I Decided,’ in 2017 which also went No. 1. Detroit 2 becomes his third highest-charting album. Sean’s 2015 ‘Dark Sky Paradise’ album still claims this top position in Sean’s career.
