Last night, the Oklahoma City Thunder took a big stand, before they faced off against the Utah Jazz, in the NBA Orlando bubble. The big story wasn’t their 110-94 win over the Jazz. Instead, the big story was the players kneeling before the game.
An Oklahoma state politician threatened legal action, if the Thunder knelt before their games. This led to Chris Paul, and the other players on the team, to kneel before their restart game. Their decision definitely owned the NBA headlines, and mainstream headlines.
Local Oklahoma TV station, KOCO 5 News, covered the Oklahoma City Thunder players kneeling, before their Utah Jazz game. The people in the comments were highly opinionated, calling for a boycott of the team, and other things, such as calling the players “babies.” This led to people speaking out in support of the team, and an argument about race erupting in those Facebook comments.
