Yesterday, the NFL took more steps in the right direction, in terms of equality. In 2016, the league basically washed their hands of Colin Kapernick, over his kneeling during the National Anthem. A peaceful protest turned him into a villain.

Fast forward to 2020 and some of the protests are no longer peaceful and people now have a bigger problem. The NFL, meanwhile, entered a partnership with Roc Nation, having Jay-Z be the face of it. Many within the hip hop community have blasted him over it.

The NFL’s Roc Nation partnership continues to unfold, starting with concerts before select games. This year, the Black National Anthem will play before the Star Spangled Banner, the US’s official National Anthem, and this has angered people. A teacher in Cobb County, Georgia, Jennifer Paige, is calling for a boycott of watching NFL games, to disrupt their profits in order to make them stop playing the Black National Anthem, saying “regardless of race.”
