Market House, in Fayetteville, North Carolina is now barricaded by the military, after protests, this week. In the 1800s, the Market House was used to sell slaves. During the protests, which stem from the latest police murder victim, George Floyd, the Market House was set on fire, with petitions, and calls, for the building to be torn down. In response to this, the military has been dispatched to guard the place.By Bossyy

It wasn’t the death of George Floyd that caused these protests, rather it was his death being the latest in a long line of innocent black deaths, at the hands of the police. The bulk of these officers were never even punished for murder. Enough is enough, so people took to the streets.

Fayetteville, North Carolina is a vibrant NC city, known in the hip hop world for J. Cole. There is a huge black population, within the city, but the Market House stands in the heart of downtown. This building was built, in the 1800s, and used to sell slaves.

The protesting began in Fayetteville and Market House was one of the main places where protesters went. Frustrated, some actually set fire to the building, which came along with a petition, and other charges to tear the building down. In a video shared by Barry Williams, the military is shown now protecting the building with a barricade, in response to the protesting.
