Republicans are in an uproar as the Mayor of the nation’s capital, Mayor Bowser, exercises the Third Amendment against Trump. The Third Amendment states:
“No Soldier shall, in time of peace be quartered in any house, without the consent of the Owner, nor in time of war, but in manner to be prescribed by law.”
The Democratic mayor said that she was “very concerned” with how the federal law enforcement expanded farther out from the White House complex on Wednesday night, and said she requested the police chief talk to the feds to push back closer to the front of the White House. The Mayor is the highest official for the city and has executorship over this aspect of operations.
The Senator is livid and tweets that the mayor was “ungrateful” and must be stopped, as the soldiers were sent in to protect DC from “rioting, looting, arson and vandalism.” The soldiers strolled into the city under the command of #45 but as many have witnessed on social media, they have mistaken their assignment for a reason to bully civilians.
Mayor Muriel Bowser, one of the few African-American female mayors in the United States, had a very high approval rate with the residents of D.C. with a slight majority that want her to run for a third term in 2022. She faced no serious competition in 2018 when she became the first Washington mayor reelected in 16 years and the first black woman to win reelection.
