Citizens all across the United States continue to march in hopes to receive justice for George Floyd after he was killed by former Minneapolis PD Officer, Derek Chauvin, and three other cops who were on the scene. Chauvin is now in a maximum security prison on third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter charges, as both need to be much more severe.
Floyd will have various funeral services next week with the first one being in his hometown of Houston. While we await the other officers to be arrested and charged, Minnesota Governor, Tim Walz, announced that the state has filed a civil rights charge against the Minneapolis Police Department for Floyd’s murder.
Our Minnesota Department of Human Rights today filed a civil rights charge against the MPD. @mnhumanrights will investigate the department’s policies, procedures, and practices over the past 10 years to determine if they engaged in systemic discriminatory practices.

“Silence is complicity. Minnesotans can expect our administration to use every tool at our disposal to deconstruct generations of systemic racism in our state,” Walz said during a press conference on Tuesday.
Policies and procedures will be looked into within the past decade at this police department to see if they have shown any discriminating behavior. Walz also assigned Keith Ellison as the Minnesota Attorney General to lead the George Floyd case in addition to receiving a phone call from Jay Z asking for justice for Floyd.. Hopefully, we get more arrests and charges very soon.
