Drake’s ‘Dark Lane Demo Tapes’ Mixtape Battling It Out With Kenny Chesney’s ‘Here And Now’ Album For No. 1 Spot on Billboard 200 Chart

On Friday, Drake released his new project, ‘Dark Lane Demo Tapes,’ which serves as a mixtape. It’s led by the recent tracks “When To Say When” “Chicago Freestyle” featuring Giveon, and “Toosie Slide,” which debuted as the No.1 song in the country. Other hot records to come out of Dark Lane Demo Tapes are “Pain 1993” feat. Playboi Carti and “D4L” feat. Future and Young Thug.

According to Hits Daily Double, Drake is on his way to another No. 1 project at 230,000-255,000 units. 18-23k albums account for pure album sales. An artist who is giving him a run for his money for this top spot though is country legend, Kenny Chesney. Chesney released his 19th studio album on Friday as well, which is titled ‘Here And Now.”

For Chesney’s numbers, he is projected to sell 220,000-235,000 units with an impressive 210,000-220,000 in pure album sales. Chesney has dominated the country genre for decade as his first studio album was released way back in 1994 with ‘In My Wildest Dreams.’ Drake has been one of the best to do it as well in hip-hop as every project he’s dropped since his 2009 ‘So Far Gone’ mixtape, per XXL. It’ll be interesting to see if he actually gets dethroned this time by Chesney. Hopefully, hip-hop still comes out on top.
