R. Kelly has been trying multiple times to be able to get released from jail due to the coronavirus pandemic as he cites health concerns. Both attempts were denied but now, he’s hoping that the third time is the charm.
According to court documents received by TMZ, Kelly’s attorney filed these as he claims that the Bureau of Prisons didn’t release the singer’s March medical tests. These supposedly reveal that he’s “likely diabetic.” Kelly also reportedly has high cholesterol and high blood pressure. Back in January, he cited more health issues as he had surgery on his hernia. That was completed as he was sent back to jail immediately. The surgery also forced him to miss a court date.
Kelly has been incarcerated at MCC Chicago and believes that he’s at a high risk of contracting the virus in this facility. The judge believes that Kelly is a flight risk but he disputes that by claiming that he can’t go anywhere due to his fame. His plans for if he gets out is to live with his girlfriend, Joycelyn Savage, in her apartment which is close to an outdoor shopping mall.
As of now, the judge has not made a decision on Kelly’s third attempt. Don’t be surprised to hear another rejection though as many feel that Kelly is a threat to young girls everywhere, including the shopping mall he plans to live nearby. The state of Illinois did extend their stay-at-home order to May 30 though so that helps in this case.
