We are starting to see many powerful celebrities such as Rihanna and Jay Z pitch in in coronavirus (COVID-19) relief as each have donated $1 million through their respective foundations. Now, Oprah Winfrey is also contributing in a major way.

Winfrey took to her Instagram feed this morning to announce that she is donating $10 million in relief efforts. $1 million is going to America’s Food Fund, which was founded by Leonardo DiCaprio and Laurene Powell Jobs. Apple and the Ford Foundation is also partnered with them in order to help provide meals for coronavirus-striken areas.

For the rest of the $9 million, Winfrey is pledging that to areas where she grew up in, which is in Tennessee and Mississippi. She recognized that people want to stay home but are still looking for ways to help in the midst of the pandemic, which she is doing now. She had high praise for America’s Food Fund.

“I believe that America’s Food Fund will be a powerful way to make a difference for our neighbors in need and am committing $1 million to this fund to support those facing food insecurity. I am donating $10 million overall to help Americans during this pandemic in cities across the country and in areas where I grew up.”
