Janelle Monáe Recently Battled Mercury Poisoning After Becoming A Pescatarian

 By Prince Hakeem

Singer Janelle Monáe had a recent sit down with The Cut magazine. She opened up about a wide range of topics during the interview. She talked about her music and readiness to take on motherhood. In the midst of all that information, Janelle revealed that she recently had a health scare when she was diagnosed with Mercury Poisoning.

She told the publication that she was still healing from the ordeal. And while she wouldn’t go into much detail, she did comment, “I started feeling my mortality.” The health crisis happened due to Monae’s recently lifestyle change in becoming a pescatarian. For those who may not know, a pescatarian is when a person doesn’t meat, but does eat fish and other seafood. It’s well known that overconsumption of fish can lead to mercury poisoning and, in drastic cases, may be fatal. Thankfully that wasn’t the case for Janelle.
