The state of hip hop today is way different than it was at the beginning of the 21st century. Rappers today are more melodic and have seemed to abandon the more traditional lyrical style that brought hip hop to the forefront. It is great to still have legends like Jay-Z, Nas and Eminem still making music.
Going into this week nobody expected an Eminem album but here we are on Saturday and we have been able to digest a new project by the 8-Mile rapper. On the record, he makes several comments about the state of hip hop today. Mumble rappers, Cardi B and Machine Gun Kelly were not safe from Eminem’s verbal onslaught.
Eminem is seen as a legend in the game and most rappers from the past don’t like to see the shift in approach from making music. While mumble rap is the new wave what has been proven to work still is deep lyrics that invoke emotion. Music to be Murdered By is projected to sell 300,000-325,000 copies which would be good for number one.
