This morning, people are waking up to see RIP Radio trending. All of this is because of the South Carolina high school football legend who has passed away. His legacy comes without even having played a single game of football.

Instead, it comes from the strength and courage the man, fondly referred to as Radio, showed. During the 1950s segregated South era, a young James “Radio” Kennedy began spending his time at a local high school. Suffering from intellectual disability, he was often a target.

Adding to it, being black in the South, and Radio was constantly given a hard time. But, this began to change, when the high school football coach took Radio under his wing, and soon the community embraced him. This inspired the 2003 film, Radio, starring Cuba Gooding, Jr., and now the huge inspiration has died, with Twitter pouring their support in for this man, in the wake of his death.
