All week, there was anticipation in the Houston area. After all, it was confirmed that Kanye West would be speaking at Joel Osteen’s huge Lakewood Church. He brought his Sunday Service choir to perform at a Houston jail earlier in the week and today was the big day at Lakewood. The 11am service concluded where Osteen and West spoke together on stage and now, the wait is on for the Sunday Service performance at 7pm local time.
As many know, West doesn’t hold back on his thoughts. When he spoke to the Lakewood audience, he mentioned random things from the devil stealing all the good artists, producers, designers, and business people along with saying strip club ads are actually sex trafficking. West added that the greatest artist that God ever created is now working for him. (Referring to himself)
Osteen brought West to Lakewood to discuss his faith but this seemed like a publicity stunt as well. There was definitely some madness leading up to the service as tickets were required for the 7pm service and they were available for free on Ticketmaster. They soon hit the resale market and some were on sale for up to $500 each. As you can imagine, people had a lot of thoughts about Ye coming to Lakewood. The wait is on now as well for the 7pm service.
