During “The Process,” the Philadelphia 76ers drafted a lot of players, many of whom were turned into the Jimmy Butler and Tobias Harris additions of last season. Some felt that original core, when they came into their own, would be a threat. For a brief period, even, they were.
Many forget that Jahlil Okafor was once a part of that team. Both he and Joel Embiid had injury problems, but Embiid turned that corner. As he did that, Okafor was traded to the Pelicans. After much upheaval, the Pels are a young, rising, team with no star.
Jahlil Okafor took over that spot, admirably, with Zion Williamson out for these early games. He led the Pelicans to a 122-107 win, over the Denver Nuggets. Fans on Twitter are stunned to see how strongly Okafor played, tonight, with 26 points and 5 rebounds, and they also said he outplayed Nikola Jokic, tonight.
