Jury Finds Former Officer Amber Guyger Guilty Of Murder In Shooting Death Of Botham Jean [VIDEO]

Breaking news out a Dallas courtroom.

Former Dallas police officer Amber Guyger was just found guilty of murder in the fatal shooting of Botham Jean. After much deliberation, the jury reach it’s verdict at around 10:45am, standard time.

Back in 2018 31-year-old Amber Guyger was arrested and charged for the fatal shooting of 26-year-old Botham Jean. Guyger was returning home from a long work shift. She was still in uniform when she mistakenly entered Jean’s apartment thinking it was hers. She mistook Jean to be an intruder and fired her gun, killing him in the process.

During the trial, Guyger apologize for killing Botham Jean, saying she was scared for her life when she opened the unlocked door to what she thought was her apartment.

Jean was unarmed and had been eating ice cream before Guyger entered his apartment.

The presiding judge gave the the jury three options in reaching a verdict. The options were finding Guyger guilty of murder, manslaughter or an acquittal. Jurors deliberated for a couple of hours Monday afternoon and resumed deliberations Tuesday morning.

Guyger faces between 5 and 99 years in prison. Court will resume at 1 p.m. Tuesday.
