In 2004, Akon came out of nowhere to deliver a hit single. That record was called “Locked Up,” featuring Styles P. But, his foray into music was only to become an executive, as he quickly launched his own imprint, followed by a distribution arm.

Both of these rosters had plenty of artists and Akon began slowly moving away from the spotlight. Even as his popularity waned, Akon remained a presence, until recently. Finally, Akon has now moved out of the US, to Africa, and has expanded his businesses.

Akon returned to “The Breakfast Club,” where there was only DJ Envy and Angela Yee, as Charlamagne was gone. Discussing his business ventures, Akon spoke on his currency, and ventures in Africa. He shifted back into music, explaining that he does it for the love, and going into discussing his new artists.
