Every summer gives birth to a new trend and a new artist. In 2019, it was Lizzo who took over the game. Not only did “Juice” become a top-five charting single, Lizzo also brought down the house, performing her hit at the BET Awards.

Lizzo, in the time since then, has enjoyed her continued dominance on the charts. However, artists are competitive, and they want to compete on all levels. Despite her success, Lizzo takes exception to being left out of the conversation about rappers.

This morning, Lizzo vented this frustration, pointing out how both Future and Swae Lee are considered rappers, but she isn’t. True to form, the fans on Twitter wasted no time targeting Lizzo and dragging her for her comments. Of course, it was all taken out of context, as Lizzo had to clarify exactly what she meant.
