Director Benny Boom Says He Originally Wanted Nipsey Hussle to Play Role of Snoop Dogg in “All Eyez On Me” Movie

All Eyez On Me was the movie of the summer in 2017 as it detailed 2Pac’s life and legendary career. There were mixed reviews but there will always be high expectations involving anything relating to Pac. It was very solid though. Actor Jarrett Ellis played the role of Pac’s fellow Death Row Records label mate, Snoop Dogg, in the movie but there were questions about who else could’ve played Snoop.

The late Nipsey Hussle draws comparisons to Snoop based on their voices sounding similar along with their looks in regards to their braids. Hussle actually almost played the role of Snoop, according to Director Benny Boom to TooFab.com. Boom said that they didn’t want anyone else to play the role of Snoop but Hussle’s schedule conflicted with the time to film the movie in regards to making his music and doing work in the community.

“It’s crazy because I didn’t realize, as much as I knew Nipsey — I didn’t realize how much he was driving things in his community,” Boom said. “And to take him out of LA for that amount of time that we needed to come to Atlanta where we shot, would’ve just threw him off his square a little bit. Just the timing didn’t work out. I’m definitely upset, cause Nipsey was my guy. I am upset that we didn’t get an opportunity to have him in the movie.”

Nipsey Hussle would’ve been a perfect fit to play Snoop Dogg in All Eyez On Me. Hussle is a California legend as well and is just as iconic as Snoop now. It’s been almost three months since Hussle was shot and killed in his hometown of Los Angeles.
