ESPN Bans Lavar Ball After Inappropriate Comments Towards Molly Qeirm

By Prince Hakeem

After the awkward and inappropriate moment with Molly Qerim on ESPN’s First Take, Lavar Ball will not be appearing on any platform for the worldwide leader in sports news.

According to The Athletic’s Richard Deitsch, an ESPN spokesperson confirmed that they have “no plans moving forward” to have Ball on as an on-air guest, on-the-record source for digital or a background source. For the foreseeable future Lavar Ball is persona non grata at ESPN.

This development comes after Ball stirred up some controversy when he made a uncomfortable and awkward comments toward Molly Qerim. While some, including Ball, have said that his response wasn’t meant as sexual, it still brought up a conversation regarding women in sports media having to deal with inappropriate behavior aimed at them in their workspace.  In many cases like Ball, it may be have been well intentioned, but to many, it’s seen as unprofessional.
