The current era of female rap is arguably the biggest in history, simply in terms of the number of relevant artists. But, the mid-1990s saw tons of successful female rappers. All of the ladies had style, but none of them were Da Brat, who helped put Chicago on the map.
Da Brat played her part in representing for Chicago, while holding it down in Atlanta, and helping Jermaine Dupri turn So So Def into a powerhouse. From 1994 until 2000, Da Brat was good for consistent hits. She was still dropping fire guest verses until 2005.
Now, Da Brat is enjoying another run, as one of the most-popular radio personalities, working alongside Rickey Smiley on his morning show. It isn’t anything entertainment related that has Da Brat in the headlines, this time, though. Instead, Da Brat is asking for help in finding a kidney for her young cousin, AJ, who has suffered from her kidney shutting down.
