Lil Nas X Says Nobody Is Forcing Him To Keep Wearing Cowboy Hats After Critics Say Columbia Records Is Trying To Keep The Gimmick Going

Lil Nas X has the top song in the country with the hip-hop/country mix “Old Town Road” along with the remix which includes country legend Billy Ray Cyrus. He’s only 20-years-old and many are already saying that he’s being forced to keep the cowboy gimmick.

Nas X took to Twitter in addressing critics after they believe Columbia Records is making him keep the cowboy hat on. He said if anyone else had a “yee haw song” go number one for weeks, you’d be “wearing the s*it too.” The question moving forward though is if he will continue to keep the hip-hop/country flows going or transition to the hometown Atlanta traditional sound.
