One of the people who helped hip hop become a real genre is Kurtis Blow, who made some classic records. He was one of the first rappers to be known as a lyricist. His “Christmas Rappin” record is not only a classic, it was also sampled by Next, for “Too Close.”
Kurtis Blow had an iconic run that helped launch the career of every rapper that has come since him. While hip hop is associated with youth, Kurtis Blow is no longer a young man. Health issues forced Kurtis Blow into the hospital, where he had heart surgery.
A couple of days ago, Kurtis Blow took to Twitter, where he let people know he was doing just fine. But, Russell Simmons took to Instagram with some bad news. He revealed Kurtis Blow was sent back to the hospital for emergency open heart surgery, asking for prayers.
