Many fragments of the hip hop community, and the fans, share a different set of values. There are those all about bars, then conscious, and then materialism. Ironic, the past few years have seen these factions come together, all in the sake of business.

Within that mold, Shoddy Boi emerges as a potential leader of this new school. Definitely, he is all about the shine, but he is also all about his business. Currently, business is booming, with “You Ain’t Stopping Me” doing well with his fans.

Recently, Hip-HopVibe.com had the chance to speak with Shoddy Boi, who is in the midst of his strong run. A native of Akron, Ohio, the On The Rise interview did mention LeBron James, but Shoddy Boi is all about his music, as he should be. The rising star discussed his own endeavors, his new music, and much more.

Read the entire interview below:

Do you believe your single, “You Ain’t Stopping Me,” will be the one that makes you into a household name? I think it’s definitely a possibility that it could be. The track is well worded with everyday situations people go through, so I can see that happening.

As a native of Akron, have you followed LeBron James’ career, in both basketball and business? More in business than basketball, because I really don’t watch sports or TV at all. But, I’m from Akron, so I don’t have to pay attention to television to know that he is making a change in the Akron community, as well as the world.

Were you disappointed to see his Lakers not be able to get it together to make the playoffs? You always come across a few bumps in the road before a major success, so no not really.

Back to your music, what is your business situation, are you independent and grinding, or are your hopes to get signed? I’m independent and grinding. Not really looking for a deal, unless it can change my situation permanently. But, I’m pretty grateful for how far I’ve come, but not satisfied. I always want more.

Thus far, what do you believe has helped you have the successes that you’ve enjoyed? Just staying down, grinding hard, moving around, networking, and keeping faith. Got to believe in yourself and never give up. It will take you far.

When will you be coming back with more material? I drop new material consistently, just gotta follow me on social media.
