Until 2009, Rick Ross was viewed as more of a regional rapper. His music had appeal, but most outside of the South didn’t take him very seriously. When Rick Ross took on 50 Cent, it was originally taken as a joke, but he built his momentum from that.

Rick Ross had a knack for making hits and that would soon show itself, as “Magnificent,” with John Legend blew up. But, many overlooked the fact that dude could really rap. In 2010, Ross proved this with his album, Teflon Don, leading to people looking up his old work.

The world learned just how Rick Ross got down, when Kanye West tapped him for “Devil In A New Dress.” Nine years later, Complex did a poll, questioning fans’ favorite “Good Friday” track. It is “Devil In A New Dress” by a wide margin, as Twitter says Rick Ross is owed major props for his work.
