Over the weekend, Philadelphia Eagles cornerback Jalen Mills got into a physical altercation with Washington Wizards Devin Robinson outside of a D.C. nightclub. The fight resulted in Devin Robinson sustaining injuries and needing to be sent to the hospital. Both professional athletes also were arrested.
This incident took place in Washington D.C outside of the Opera Ultra Lounge. Mills and Robinson got into verbal back and forth inside of the club. It escalated into being a physical altercation on a sidewalk adjacent to the club at 2:56am. Police arrested and charged them both with disorderly affray, which in laymen terms means fighting in public.
Robinson, who’s 6-foot-8 and 200 pounds somehow sustained injuries and had to be taken to Sibley Memorial Hospital for treatment. He was then released and taken to the department’s 2nd District station, where Mills was also detained.
This isn’t a good look for Robinson in particular. Only having seven games under his belt, Devin has spent most of his tenure with the Wizards on their G-league team. He was already out of a job, expected to be released as a free agent. Well, this incident kind of sped up that process, as evidenced in the official statement they released.
“We are aware of the incident this morning involving Devin and are disappointed in his actions. We will not extend him a qualifying offer for the 2019-20 season,” the statement read.
Mills posted a $35 bail and was later release. The Eagles have not released any statement on the matter, but have said that they aware and gathering more information.
