Meek Mill Receives His Own Day In Atlanta A Day After Finishing ‘The Motivation Tour’ In The City

Meek Mill has been a man of the people as of late. In February, he got his own day in Houston. Today, he got his own city in Atlanta. This comes a day after finishing his The Motivation Tour in Atlanta at the Coca-Cola Roxy venue.

City Council President Felicia A. Moore and Councilman Cleta Winslow gave Meek a proclamation saying that March 25, 2019 is Meek Mill Day in Atlanta. Meek also received the Phoenix Award. This is “an award issued to individuals who have made significant contributions to the local community, and are celebrating a major milestone.” This definitely points towards Meek’s efforts in addressing issues in America’s criminal justice system which targets black men. Meek was locked up from October 2017-April 2018 after a judge ruled that him popping wheelies in New York City was a violation of probation.

After Meek was released from prison, he had a major 2018. He released his ‘Legends of the Summer‘ EP which featured the single ‘Dangerous‘ featuring Jeremih and Ty Dolla $ign. He closed the year out with his fourth studio album ‘Championships.’ It is now platinum and buzzing with records such as ‘Going Bad‘ feat. Drake and ‘On Me‘ feat. Cardi B.
