R. Kelly Can’t Pay $100,000 Required Out Of $1 Million Bond To Leave Custody Due To Child Support Issues And Overdue Studio Rent

R. Kelly has been indicted on 10 counts of aggravated sexual abuse involving four underage girls and has been held at a Chicago jail since Friday. His bond is set at $1 million with $250,000 for each victim. In order to be able to leave custody though, he has to pay 10% of the total which is $100,000.

Kelly is unable to do this though due to some severe financial situations. His attorney, Steve Greenberg, is saying that the funds aren’t available due to “mismanagement,” “hangers-on” and “bad deals,” according to CNN. He added that Kelly is trying to get it together but the money isn’t sitting in the bank. Child support and overdue rent for his studio are factors here.

According to documents obtained by CNN, the child support amount he owes comes up to $169,000 to an ex-wife. He was forced to begin making $20,833/ month payments as of January 8, 2009. He supposedly didn’t show up to that hearing. He now has to pay $161,663 to avoid being held in contempt of court. The deadline is March 6. Greenberg noted that this payment isn’t required to get out of custody now.

Kelly also has a Chicago studio where he supposedly conducted his sex cult at. He owes more than $166,000 in unpaid rent. An eviction order was signed last month and he had to be out on or before January 21. Kelly was also at this studio right before he turned himself in this weekend.

Hopefully at the end of the day, Kelly is locked away for a long time. He’s gone away with a lot of sick crimes involving young girls since the 90s.
