Slowly, Gunna has emerged from the shadow of Young Thug, to usher in a new era of Atlanta hip hop. He solidified this with Drip or Drown 2, his new album. This comes on the heels of his and Lil Baby’s joint album, which is still dominating radio.
Gunna is proving Thug’s ability to find quality artists, as he has helped turn his YSL label into a powerhouse. But, Gunna is more focused on building his own legacy. He follows a long line of Atlanta rappers that have impacted the game.
“The Breakfast Club” had Gunna on, this morning, to talk about, among other things, Drip or Drown 2. Sitting down with DJ Envy, Angela Yee, and Charlamagne Tha God, he spoke on the album and Young Thug’s impact. Acknowledging the Atlanta greats before him, he also took on that issue.
