In the early 2000s, Mario rose to the top of the game, on the strength of some hit records. Sampling Biz Markie, he dropped “Just A Friend” to much fanfare, in 2002. After that summer, Mario disappeared, and was forgotten.
Returning in 2004, with a new look, an adult Mario dropped his most-notable single, “Let Me Love You.” The Ne-Yo penned track gained Mario his first Billboard Hot 100 number one. In 2007, he returned with his third album, boasting his “Crying Out For Me” single.
Mario had hits for days, but when he disappeared, following 2009, nobody really noticed. It wasn’t until he showed up on “Empire” that people realized how long Mario was gone. Recently, he spoke on his Native-American ancestry, which sparked some backlash, but Mario proved himself, only to deal with a hater that he had to shut down.
