Coming into 2018, most people forgot all about Lil Wayne, and his forever forthcoming album, Tha Carter V. However, all of that came to a quick change, this weekend. After doing a side deal with Jay-Z, and a lawsuit, Lil Wayne and Birdman made up for real.
Father and son are reunited, but Lil Wayne is not with the only label he’s ever known, Cash Money Records. Instead, Young Money is now its own entity, distributed by Republic Records. This still leaves them all on the same label, just no longer under Cash Money.
Tha Carter V is out, but it has dropped as Young Money’s album, with no one else involved. Regardless of where the album dropped, fans definitely were ready for it. In just 24 hours, the album has crossed the 46 million stream mark on Spotify.
