Yes, yes ya’ll! To the beat ya’ll! The Flossy Posse is expected to be back in full sisterhood effect at the box office for round two –maybe with more spray painted members only jackets and that black girl magic mayhem the audience loves so much.
We know there’s been some chatter of rumors surfacing that there may be a sequel to the original Girls Trip, but no official announcement has been made by way of production…yet. Although, the feature star, Regina Hall recently took to BuzzFeed News to say something is in the works, “I don’t know where the girls are going but we’re going somewhere” and we’re betting sisters everywhere will be sitting right there in front of the big screen in theaters when they do.
The all-black female cast blockbuster did extremely well at the box office last summer (a reported $140 milli- and counting) leaving most of us with unapologetic laugh lines and New Orleans Essence Fest vibes to last a lifetime. The feature film was written by Kenya Barris (Blackish) and directed by Malcolm D. Lee (The Best Man). Lee told Entertainment Weekly they wanted to do another one and “It has to be a little bit bigger, it has to be just as good, just as funny, just as outrageous, and that takes time.
Jada Pinkett -Smith also dropped a gem on her Instagram about the movies sequel. She posted a poster picture of her big screen squad today, where more than 30,000 followers left some major crew love in the comments.
We’re also anticipating the original cast to return with the all-star actress, Queen Latifah and breakout comedian, Tiffany Haddish who both made us laugh and lest we say, look at “Grapefruit” in a different light.
Please keep the black girl magic comedy coming, we ready when you are!
