It doesn’t get more 90s than what Teddy Riley brought to Essence Fest, tonight. The year of 1996 is regarded, by many, as the signature year of that decade. Indeed, 1996 saw almost everyone Teddy Riley brought out, bring their A-game.

Teddy Riley already had an incredible run with Guy, but then made more classics with BLACKstreet. When it comes to the 1990s, Teddy had the game on lock. Tonight, he reminded the music world that he’s much more than Nia’s dad.

The fans on Twitter have Teddy Riley trending, after he performed his set at Essence Fest. He brought out his group members from Guy and BLACKstreet, just naming a few. Also on the bill was Ginuwine, MC Lyte, Keith Sweat, and more, as fans credit him with inventing his own genre of music.
