Longtime hip hop fans are aware, back in the day, Jay-Z and Nas had beef. The two rappers were both from New York City and rising to the top, at the same time. This was the time after The Notorious B.I.G. died, as he was undeniably one of the top two rappers in the game.
Jay-Z, forever an ambitious figure, wanted the top spot for himself. A lot of fans, however, were drawn to Nas, which led to a classic hip hop beef. Seeing how their beef never got violent, the two went onto become good friends and collaborators.
However, the competitive edge is still there, and many felt Jay-Z dropping his new album was a sign of this. Now, there is something lending credence to this. Someone made a meme of Nas, out of a pic of him on his laptop, and added a caption “how they get their album out so fast,” and Beyonce liked it.
