There’s always that news that no one wants to face and usually it is the death of a parent. Love them or hate them, they are the ones who gave life and maintained it. But, just like with all other parts of life, they, too, have to move on.
Queen Latifah has brought her mother along, every step of the way, through her journey. When Queen Latifah began making her name, on television, she brought her mother, Rita Owens, with her. She even played herself, as she played Latifah’s Khadijah’s mom.
A few years ago, Queen Latifah revealed her mother, affectionately known as “Aunt Rita, Rita, Rita!,” by “Living Single” viewers, was battling heart disease. Earlier this afternoon, Queen Latifah shared with PEOPLE that she passed away. The news is definitely heart-breaking and prayers go out to them.
