For weeks, ahead of the Black Panther premiere, there has been a lot of anticipation, for the movie. Last night, “Empire” star, Jussie Smollett, even bought Black Panther tickets for people to watch free. Previously, so did Viola Davis, of “How To Get Away With Murder.”
Black Panther set records for the amount of pre-sales it received. Then, on Friday, the movie grossed $70 million, on that day, alone. Now, the movie has set another box office record, which knocks the NWA biopic, Straight Outta Compton, off its record-breaking throne.
A few hours ago, Michael B. Jordan, the archvillain, in the movie, had some big news. Aside from making Chadwick Boseman into a household name, the movie has set records. Black Panther has now grossed $218 million, a box office record, for just a weekend.
