Throughout history, Queen Nefertiti has constantly been displayed as a powerful, black, woman. However, many things have been rewritten, over time. Now, the white-washing of Queen Nefertiti has taken place, but people aren’t having it.
This morning, a bust of Queen Nefertiti, the mother of King Tut, was shared on “The Today Show.” Clearly displaying a black woman, nothing like Queen Nefertiti, outrage was instant. Immediately, people took to social media to show their disdain.
On Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter, Queen Nefertiti’s white face has been the source of controversy. While the designer says this is as close to her real face as possible, people are not buying it. The worst part of it all, is that this bust was unveiled, during Black History Month.
