Pam The Funkstress, the DJ for Prince and The Coup, and Bay Area legend, has died this evening; Twitter pays homage #RIPPamTheFunkstress

Here, at the end of 2017, it’s becoming a sad year. Only days before Christmas, Pam The Funkstress has died. Real name Pam Warren, she was battling with an undisclosed medical condition and she had a successful surgery, last month.

Pam The Funkstress became Prince’s personal DJ and also was the official DJ for The Coup. When people talk about “real” hip hop and “real” music, they are referring to legends like Pam. The unfortunate thing is that she will now be referred to in the past tense.

This evening, Chuy Gomez revealed Pam The Funkstress passed away. Like Combat Jack, she died young, and many will say it was before their time. Ultimately, those who believe know no mistakes were made, so with that in mind, Rest In Peace Pam “The Funkstress” Warren.
