During the final days of Roc-A-Fella Records, in 2007-2008, many people viewed Freeway as the future of the label. He was very close with Jay-Z and was following his rules. When Jay-Z left Def Jam, he also left Roc-A-Fella and was unable to sign his artists to his new label.

The “super-label” rumors have slowly come to fruition, as Roc Nation has offered label deals to Memphis Bleek, T.I., and Freeway. Earlier this year, in March, Freeway joined with his Newrothchilds label. Since then, he’s been seeking artists to build his label.

Freeway is coming to Jacksonville, North Carolina, in a little over two weeks, where he will be looking for some up-and-comers. He will be judging them in the “Murder Mic, Vol. 1” event. The event is going down at Snug Harbor on December 15.
