The music that has been created over the years is the real driving force behind everything. If not for the music, there would be no interest in the television shows some of our music’s acts appear in. Also, had these people not made classic records, no one could care about their gossip.
With that being said, the backbone of our music comes from the racial disenfranchisement. From there, it evolved to a form of political, peaceful, protest. Now, the music remains a refuge, shown in recent videos from Kodak Black and XXXTentacion.
On the “Hip Hop Honors,” tonight, Pharrell came out to speak and he had something to say. The famed producer cut into his talk about the music to tell people to WAKE UP. He called out all forms of discrimination forms, warning “it could happen to you.”
