YRS Jerzy’s Wednesday Throwback: Missy Elliott ft. Ginuwine – “Take Away”

Sixteen years ago, the urban music world took a major hit, when that plane crash took Aaliyah. Then, only a few weeks later, the 9/11 attacks really tested America’s morale. Years later, music has evolved, and New York City is stronger than ever.

Few people were hurt as much as Missy Elliott, Timbaland, and Ginuwine. They were the ones who were the closest to Aaliyah, musically, along with the late Static Major. Already pushing her Miss E… So Addictive album.

The song, “Take Away,” was already on the album, featuring Ginuwine, but she dedicated it to Aaliyah. Additional vocals came from Tweet, who would take over in 2002. Now, the song is the Wednesday Throwback, just showing the progression.
