YRS Jerzy’s Wednesday Throwback: Destiny’s Child – “Say My Name”

By YRS Jerzy

In 1999, Destiny’s Child was the hottest phenomenon in the music industry. Following the success of “No No No,” doors really began to open for the group. They ended up going through some upheaval, with member, LeToya Luckett, leaving and Michelle Williams joining.

But, Beyonce’s star power was already shining through, so they delivered The Writing’s On The Wall, without missing a beat. The third single, “Say My Name,” came at the end of 1999. Ultimately, it would top the Hot 100, early in 2000.

Destiny’s Child has not put out an album since 2004, when the group effectively “retired.” But, there have been rumblings of a reunion, one that would include LeToya. Until then, they live on, with “Say My Name” being this week’s Wednesday Throwback.
